What this family covers, and why buyers consider it
These platforms run the catalog, cart, orders and back office, and connect to ERP, CRM, product data and fulfilment.
Netbase delivers on WooCommerce, Magento 2, Laravel and headless commerce. Our wider stack also covers PrestaShop, OpenCart, Shopware, CS-Cart, Shopify, Salesforce, Akeneo, Odoo and Symfony.
When each platform fits, and when it does not
Match the platform to how the business operates:
-
WooCommerce
- Fits when
- Content and commerce share one WordPress site; small to mid catalogs; flexible extensions
- Think again when
- Very large catalogs or complex B2B rules without careful engineering
-
Magento 2
- Fits when
- Large catalogs, several stores or languages, B2B pricing and heavy integration
- Think again when
- A small catalog or a team without a partner to manage upgrades
-
Shopify
- Fits when
- A fast hosted launch with little infrastructure to run
- Think again when
- Checkout or back-end logic needs deep changes the platform does not allow
-
PrestaShop
- Fits when
- An open-source store with full code ownership for a mid-sized catalog
- Think again when
- Your market relies on extensions the ecosystem lacks
-
Odoo
- Fits when
- Inventory, accounting and sales must live in one ERP with the store
- Think again when
- The storefront experience matters more than back-office depth
-
Salesforce
- Fits when
- Commerce must sit inside an existing Salesforce CRM investment
- Think again when
- Licence cost outweighs the value of CRM integration
-
Laravel or headless
- Fits when
- No platform models the workflow, or several channels share one core
- Think again when
- A standard store would do the job for less
If none fits, our custom e-commerce platform guide explains when to build.
Implementation patterns we use
Add features as modules or plugins, so core upgrades keep working.
Connect ERP, CRM, product information (Akeneo) and shipping through documented APIs and scheduled syncs; one system owns each record.
Transform data, rebuild key extensions, test, then run a final data pass.
Such as an online product designer.
Trade-offs to weigh
-
Cost
Hosted platforms trade licence and app fees for low operations effort; open source trades them for hosting and upkeep
-
Performance
Depends on catalog size, extensions and hosting more than the platform brand
-
Scale
Magento 2, Salesforce and headless builds suit the largest catalogs and order volumes
-
Security
Supported versions and reviewed extensions are the main controls
-
Talent
WooCommerce and Shopify skills are common; Magento 2 and Salesforce skills are scarcer
-
Maintenance
Every extension adds upgrade and conflict risk
Security and operations
A platform must stay on a supported release to receive security fixes. Adobe publishes a lifecycle calendar for Magento 2 releases, and unsupported versions lose patches. Extensions are reviewed at every upgrade and migration; payment data stays with the payment provider.
How Netbase applies it across services and solutions
Platform work is delivered through e-commerce development and powers our e-commerce and marketplace solution and the web-to-print platform. CMSmart, one of the Netbase Business Divisions, builds WooCommerce and Magento extensions, including an online product designer. On the ERP side, Netbase has customized Odoo, built cloud ERP modules and synced stores with ERP catalogs, stock and orders; with a local Odoo implementation partner it has consulted for retail chains, manufacturers and distributors in Vietnam. Unnamed clients' stores run on WooCommerce with Vue.js design tools and on Magento with mobile apps.
AI in commerce platforms
Most platforms expose the catalog, orders and customers through APIs, so AI search, recommendations, catalog enrichment and invoice capture can be added through AI integration without a replatform. People approve prices and published content.

Web-to-print platform with AI design assistance, from online design to a print-ready order
A web-to-print platform is an online ordering, design and prepress workflow that helps print businesses sell custom products: customers configure, design and approve their order online, AI can suggest layouts and catch artwork problems, and production receives a print-ready file. Netbase has delivered 50+ custom web-to-print platforms across apparel, packaging, signage, promotional merchandise and corporate B2B portals.
