Dey Page: a business directory for Nigeria, on the web and in one cross-platform app

Netbase built Dey Page, a multi-state business directory for Nigeria that starts in Abia State and is designed to scale to all 36 states. People find businesses by state, city and category; businesses earn a field-verified Location-Confirmed Badge; and a React Native app gives consumers and business owners the same platform on iOS and Android.

The problem Dey Page solves

Finding a trustworthy local business in Nigeria often means asking around. Dey Page organises businesses by state, city, local government area and category, and adds a trust mark that is earned on the ground, not bought. The platform had to work on mobile phones over slow 3G connections, take payments the way Nigerian businesses pay, and talk to people on WhatsApp, where they already are.

What Netbase built

  • Web directory

A mobile-first, server-rendered directory with state, city, category and listing pages, clean URLs, structured data for each business and daily sitemaps for search engines. Listings carry photos, opening hours, services, reviews with business replies, a map and WhatsApp click-to-chat. Accounts use phone one-time passwords over WhatsApp and SMS.

  • Location-Confirmed Badge

Field agents visit a business and capture GPS location, geotagged photos and an owner ID photo in a mobile web app that works offline and syncs later. Head office reviews each submission in a queue. Badges expire after twelve months, complaints above a threshold trigger a review automatically, and every sensitive action is written to an audit trail.

  • Operations and revenue

Five admin roles, from super admin to state manager and field agent, with per-state dashboards. Businesses pay for Featured Listings and badge subscriptions through Paystack, with Flutterwave for diaspora cards, and see views, WhatsApp clicks and inquiries for their own listings. Video uploads are optimised automatically and photos are watermarked with the Dey Page brand.

  • Mobile app

A React Native app for iOS and Android on the same backend as the web platform: the same listings, users and payments. Consumers browse featured listings and categories, search and filter by distance, rating or badge, save listings and searches, and get push notifications for matches and reviews. The same account switches into business-owner mode to manage listings, reply to reviews, watch badge status and renew a Featured Listing through an in-app browser checkout. Deep links open a listing shared on WhatsApp or SMS straight in the app.

How the work was delivered

The plan ran for twelve weeks with sign-off at each stage: a discovery workshop and brand consultation; three design rounds each for web and mobile; the multi-state data model, authentication and admin roles; the public site with search, reviews and the media pipeline; the field agent and badge workflow; payments and billing; web QA and launch with the first seed listings; then mobile QA and App Store and Google Play submission under the client's own developer accounts. Source code lived in the client's GitHub repository from the first week, and post-launch bug-fix windows followed each launch.

What the record does not claim

  • No launch date, download count, listing count or revenue: none is published.
  • No AI feature. A recommendation engine is a possible later phase, outside this scope.
  • No store rating or app-store ranking.
