Sample ordering for a print-on-demand wallpaper store

Netbase, through its CMSmart division, added a Buy a Sample flow to the WordPress print store of a wallpaper printing business with a Dutch-language shop. Shoppers choose a design and its variations and order a sample at a fixed price before they buy wallpaper in quantity. The client's name is withheld.

The problem

The business sold pre-printed wallpaper and wanted an online store where customers could also design wallpaper to order, a niche product that sets it apart. It chose the premium Printstore package, whose theme and online designer suit print products from T-shirts to wall coverings. One problem remained that a designer cannot solve. Buyers of wallpaper order a lot at once and cannot judge colour or material quality on a screen, so a wrong choice is expensive. The owner's idea was to let shoppers order a sample first, and the package had no such function.

What Netbase built

  • Buy a Sample button

On a product page the shopper selects a design and its variations, such as size, colour and material, and adds a sample of exactly that combination to the cart.

  • Sample price per product

The admin sets a fixed sample price for each product in the back end while setting up the product.

  • Normal checkout

The sample goes through the store's standard cart and order flow, alongside custom and ready-made wallpaper and carpet.

How the work was delivered

A CMSmart consultant and the development team drew the workflow for the sample function in a few days and sent it to the owner for approval. Once approved, the function took about ten days to build. Netbase's service team also supported the owner while the rest of the store's content and services were being added.

What is not claimed

The public story was written while the store was still being completed, so this record claims no launch, order or sales figure. The value of a sample is lower risk for the buyer and more confidence before a large order; that is the aim, not a measured result. No AI feature is part of this project.
