What SaaS development includes
A SaaS product is more than a web app with a login. One codebase serves many customers, each expecting separate data, correct billing and a service that is always there. SaaS development builds for that from the first sprint. The service belongs to our Product Engineering family.
Included
- Product discovery, MVP scoping and a release roadmap
- Multi-tenant architecture and data isolation
- Accounts, roles, subscriptions and billing integration
- Admin console, customer self-service and onboarding flows
- Integrations, public API and webhooks
- Cloud environments, delivery pipelines and monitoring
- Testing, launch, and ongoing co-building after release
Not included
- Market research, pricing strategy or fundraising support
- Configuration of an off-the-shelf SaaS tool with no development
- Payment processing licences and gateway fees
- Marketing sites, content and ad campaigns
- Transfer of Netbase's own licensed products
- Hardware or office IT
When to use it, and when another route fits
SaaS development fits when recurring revenue from many customers is the business model, and the product has to be ready for customer number one hundred, not only customer one.
Good fit
- A new subscription product with a clear first customer segment
- An existing single-tenant app that must serve many customers
- A product whose first version outgrew its architecture
- A software business that needs a partner to run the platform too
Another route fits better
- Internal software used by one company only: custom software development fits
- A standard need an existing SaaS tool already covers
- Only one or two extra engineers for your own team
- A goal that is still vague: start with discovery
Founders weighing their first build will find the stage-by-stage view on our startups and scaleups page. Every other route is in the services directory.
Outcomes and buyer jobs
Teams hire SaaS development to:
A focused first release, not a throwaway demo.
Tenancy, roles and data isolation designed in, so growth does not mean a rewrite.
Plans, trials, upgrades and invoices handled by the product, not by a spreadsheet.
Automated pipelines and tests, so every customer gets the fix at once.
Capability modules and deliverables
User roles, core journeys, release roadmap and success metrics
Tenancy model, data model, integration map and decision records
Sign-up, roles, subscription plans and billing integration
Customer app, admin console and self-service onboarding
Public API, webhooks and connections to the tools customers already use
Cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and backups
Automated tests per milestone and a regression suite
Release plan, operating guide, training and ongoing co-building
Build on reusable modules
Many SaaS products share the same foundations. Netbase keeps a productized module library, including a CRM and B2B sales engine, a workflow automation toolkit, an AI chatbot and WorkChat integrator, Smart ERP Light and an e-commerce accelerator. Reusing productized modules can cut development time by up to 60%; the actual saving depends on coverage and is estimated in discovery. Our SaaS product accelerator packages this approach for new products.
Delivery process, team and governance
Every SaaS build runs on our six-step delivery lifecycle:
-
Discovery and strategic alignment
Customer segment, core journeys, pricing model and launch metrics.
-
Team assembly and architecture planning
A team of 3 to 30 people, from business analysts and architects to developers, QA and UI/UX, typically starting one to two weeks after discovery.
-
Agile execution with outcome-based milestones
Short cycles, each ending in a working release you can review.
-
Modular and productized components
Proven modules are reused where they remove risk and time.
-
Training, rollout and optimization
Launch to a first cohort, then to the market.
-
Ongoing support and co-building
The product keeps pace with customers.
Delivery follows lean product practice: the MVP is the smallest release that tests the pricing and the core journey, and each sprint is shaped by what the last one taught. Governance runs remote-first from Hanoi in English: weekly reviews, KPI dashboards, a dedicated account manager and project manager, and Slack, Zoom and client dashboards. The platform is API-first, so integrations, mobile apps and AI services share one contract. Security is designed in: secure code review, TLS in transit and AES at rest, role-based access control, MFA for admin dashboards, vulnerability scanning and penetration testing. NDAs, DPAs and SLAs are available on request.
AI features that make a SaaS product stickier
We design AI per tenant from the start, or add it later through AI integration: data stays isolated, AI usage is metered like any plan limit, and users can see and correct every suggestion.
AI features for your product:
-
In-product assistant
Answers "how do I" questions from your help centre and the tenant's own records.
-
Smart onboarding
Imports and maps a new customer's spreadsheets or data exports into the product.
-
Insights and forecasts
Usage, revenue or demand trends surfaced on the tenant dashboard.
-
Churn signals
Accounts at risk flagged for your customer success team.
AI in how we build and run it:
- Code review and test generation. AI proposes; engineers approve every merge.
- Incident and log triage. Alerts grouped and summarised so on-call engineers reach the cause sooner.
- Model choice per feature. Commercial or open-source models chosen for cost, latency and data rules, with no lock-in to one vendor.

Engagement models and commercial variables
Most Netbase projects are delivered on fixed-price contracts agreed after discovery, and SaaS work usually starts as a project-based MVP, then moves to a dedicated team or fully managed delivery once the product has customers. Milestone-based, monthly team retainer and KPI-linked terms are also offered. We do not publish rate cards.
What moves effort and cost: user roles and plans, billing complexity, integrations, data migration, compliance needs and decision speed. Timelines are ranges: 3–6 months for a mid-tier product and 6–12+ months for an enterprise platform.
Technology as an implementation choice
Services, data and integrations run on our backend platforms; environments, pipelines and monitoring come from our cloud and DevOps stack. We deploy on AWS, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean or Cloudflare, and the provider stays your choice. The trade-offs are explained in our SaaS platform engineering guide and our guide to multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
Technologies we build with
Industry applications
Printing and packaging. Print businesses increasingly sell software: design tools, B2B ordering portals and print marketplaces run as subscriptions, a pattern Netbase knows from its own web-to-print SaaS.
Service businesses and B2B software. Workspaces, client portals and operations tools for companies that sell expertise, the pattern behind Cloodo.
Printing and packaging: online ordering, AI artwork checks and production handoff
Netbase helps print and packaging businesses move ordering, artwork approval and production handoff online, with AI where files go wrong, so customers configure, design, proof and pay in one flow and the press floor receives clean jobs. Six published print-commerce case studies and 50+ custom web-to-print platforms, across apparel, packaging, signage, promotional merchandise and B2B portals, back this page.

For custom development, you own the IP created for you. Netbase productized modules and Business Division products are licensed, not transferred.
Yes. We plan the tenancy and data migration in discovery, before any rebuild.
We integrate a billing provider and build plans, trials, upgrades and invoices into the product.
Yes. Ongoing support or fully managed delivery keeps the same team responsible after release.
Not unless you design it that way. Retrieval, prompts and any fine-tuning are scoped per tenant.
Tenant data isolation is part of the architecture, with TLS in transit, AES at rest, role-based access control and MFA for admin dashboards.
